Vaud-based start-up Algorized has secured USD 4.3 million to advance people-sensing tech, enabling safer, efficient human-machine interactions across industries.

Algorized, an AI-powered platform specializing in advanced people-sensing and positioning software, has raised USD 4.3 million in seed funding. Led by the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund, this round will support Algorized’s mission to advance human-machine interaction technology, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The widespread adoption of robotics and automation across industries presents unique challenges for safely integrating humans and machines in shared environments. A critical aspect of this challenge is enabling machines to accurately detect and distinguish people from objects, an essential factor for preventing accidents. Algorized addresses this need with a software-only solution that works with standard wireless sensors, transforming them into accurate people-sensing devices without requiring extensive hardware modifications.

Initially developed for critical applications such as locating individuals during emergencies, Algorized’s technology has evolved into a versatile, sensor-agnostic platform. Utilizing machine learning algorithms processed directly at the edge, the software provides detailed data on people flow, positioning, and even vital signs across varied environments. The platform integrates Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radar technology, which is increasingly prevalent in industries ranging from automotive to building management. By leveraging this widely available infrastructure, Algorized’s software remains both cost-effective and highly scalable.

Safeguarding humans and improving operational efficiency

The new funding will allow Algorized to enhance its sensor-agnostic platform, grow its team, and expand into industrial, robotics, and automotive sectors. “This investment enables us to scale our platform and implement a growth strategy that will establish Algorized as a leader in people-sensing technology,” said CEO Natalya Lopareva. “Our software transforms wireless sensors into powerful tools for safeguarding humans and improving operational efficiency.”

The funding round attracted additional support from Acrobator Ventures, Berkeley SkyDeck Fund, CoreNest Capital, Shucker Ventures, and other strategic investors. Franziska Bossart, Head of the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund, highlighted the transformative potential of Algorized’s technology: “Algorized’s approach to people-sensing AI software aligns with our vision of a future where humans and machines collaborate safely and efficiently. Its ability to adapt to existing sensors makes this technology both accessible and impactful.”
