Bracco, a global leader in diagnostic imaging, has unveiled its state-of-the-art facility in Geneva, marking a significant milestone in advancing contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) technology.

With an investment exceeding EUR 80 million, the new Hexagon building will triple the production of Bracco‘s innovative ultrasound contrast agents based on microbubble technology. This four-story, sustainably designed structure complements Bracco’s existing plant in Plan-les-Ouates (canton of Geneva) and reinforces its position as a leader in CEUS imaging. The groundbreaking platform enhances diagnostic accuracy for evaluating heart cavities, blood vessels, and tissue vascularity, offering non-invasive, radiation-free alternatives to traditional imaging modalities.

Bracco’s microbubble technology holds transformative potential for precision medicine, enabling the delivery of targeted therapies by temporarily opening vascular tissue barriers to optimize treatment efficacy.

“This investment allows us to meet growing global demand for our CEUS products while enhancing innovation in diagnostic imaging,” said Diana Bracco, President and CEO. She highlighted the strategic advantage of co-locating research and production facilities in Geneva, noting the company’s annual investment of CHF 12.5 million in R&D and the contributions of over 100 specialized employees, including 45 scientists.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Anne Lèvy, Director of the Federal Office of Public Health, and ambassadors from Italy and Switzerland. The event celebrated the strong bilateral ties and Bracco’s contribution to the life sciences sector. A scientific symposium, “Bubble Power – Imaging & Beyond,” followed the inauguration, showcasing insights from international experts on the future of medical imaging and its role in advancing global healthcare.

Founded in Milan in 1927, Bracco operates in 100 countries with a workforce of 3,800 and an annual turnover of EUR 1.8 billion. Its ties to Switzerland date back nearly four decades, originating with a pioneering collaboration with the Swiss Battelle Institute.
